That is Blueberry actually. I know because I was there with Gyromite. I got the vanilla flavor and he got the green tea flavor. The one we visited is located on Robson St. There is a new one that just opened on Broadway and Granville.
Food Lover, I wouldn't consider it milky. It doesn't give you that sick feeling you get after consuming too much dairy. It feels really light and tastes sort of fruity in some ways. Definitely really refreshing. I like to get mine plain with no fruit. The yogurt itself is good enough for me.
I recently reviewed it on my food blog which you can check out at:
I recently checked out a place called Qoola on Denman. If you really want to taste the best fresh frozen yogurt in town, not only does it contain live active cultures, the yogurt they use is an actual fresh liquid yogurt, not powder and they have 4 flavours and over 40+ toppings to choose from. Check them out at Denman St (beside Cookies by George).
Hi tried that Qoola place too...but i gotta say: "looks good, tastes bad". Sometimes when you overcomplicate something so simple it ruins it. This is Qoola's mistake. FroyoSwirl is still the best Froyo in Vancity...by far! I take mine with Mandarine Orange!
My name is RJ with Qoola Yogurt+Fruit. To the anonymous poster above, I welcome you to come back and try our yogurt again. If you have issue with our yogurt's taste, please come in and let us offer you another flavor. Otherwise, we'd love to know what aspects didn't appeal to you.
We are the only place in Vancouver (or BC even) to have true, fresh yogurt. This is not reconstituted powder. Our yogurt is *certified* to have Live Active Cultures and the tart taste will reflect this - not a hint of the grainy, artificial "dessert" taste you get with powdered. We will always be very forthright with our product and we stand behind it. In addition, like Stan posted above, we have 40+ toppings including fresh fruit cut daily and we also serve home-made waffles and crepes amongst other things.
All of our management team is accessible and we're very happy to answer any questions you have. Our motto is pure heart+pure body. With the sincere business intents, offering the best quality products, we hope to earn your patronage. Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion.
RJ...since you work there you should know about Qoola, but how do you know what ingredients other Froyo places have in their recipe? I have asked at FroyoSwirl and they also use real natural yogurt.
Thanks for the comment. Powdered yogurt is still natural but it's not the same as fresh, natural, liquid yogurt. The difference between powdered and liquid (besides the taste), is that powdered yogurt loses the majority of probiotic cultures that gives yogurt its beneficial qualities during the heat treating process. When you have our yogurt, you will always have fresh & natural yogurt that contains over 100 million probiotic cultures per gram. To be able to display the Live & Active Cultures seal, you only need 10 million. As far as we know, no other yogurt establishment here in Vancouver has this seal.
Please, come down to Qoola and try a sample of our yogurt. We think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
Yes, I agree with RJ's comment. I am a nutritionist and what he explained is very thorough. Thanks for being so clear and patient with talking about food. There's a lot of ppl out there who don't really know what they're 'truly' eating, and judge something but what they have 'heard from ppl'...it's great to know there's food places out there now who are serious about what they are selling to the public :)
On the other hand...I have tried the Qoola yogurt and it is amazing! Not only is it healthy, it tastes great, as if ur eating ice-cream. If ur not hot on toppings and 'overcomplicated' food, Qoola's good in that even without toppings, the yogurt is just as amazing (it doesn't need toppings to enhance what it has to offer!). So, give it a try!
Thanks for the kind comments. As I stated before, we are always accessible to answer questions or explain any of our initiatives.
Our official grand opening is on Feb 14th from 12pm to 12am. I invite everyone to come down and enjoy our products and we'll be giving away door prizes and more. Thanks again for your support.
Welcome to Vancouver Slop. This is a daily food/slop blog from Vancouver, BC, Canada. This blog will review our regular spots, the hype spots that you have to wait in line for, and the gems that even the hipsters have not found out about. It will also diss the spots that have been getting undeserving hype. Enjoy

Is that Pinkberry in the corner? Did they open one up in Van?

Cheers!
I'm going to have to check out that Froyo Swirl....thanks for pointing that out David!
you need to eat more greens!
Yeah the toppings at Blueberry are brutal. Sparse at best. I had the red bean on it and it was good but there wasn't much red bean.
search out the best roughage in the city...
WOW...thanks David! Froyo Swirl is the best Froyo yet in Vancouver!! I love the funky store, and the yogurt is deliciously tart!

RJ -- I have asked the people at Froyo Swirl what their yogurt is made out of and it is actually made from real, fresh, liquid yogurt, not powder.
