Our friends Nina & Colin Hemmes have a little pastry & cake building kitchen called 'Tartlets' in North Vancouver. We had a chance to visit them to taste some cake and talk slop. Here is a little feature on Tartlets by yours truly, Vancouver Slop.

Serious yummmm. I have the biggest sweet tooth and it's not even funny. I need to visit next time I'm home.
As an aspiring pastry chef, it made me so happy to read that. And thinking I chose the wrong baking school, but that is something I probably shouldn't write about...anyway, thanks for the story and great pictures!
Nina did a massive tart tower for my wedding last January - she is incredibly talented!! And I think you could get her to create just about any shape cake and it would taste as amazing as it looks. GREAT piece!!! Those pictures are fantastic.
